NMFA Testifies on FMLA Changes: Representative Lynne Woolsey (D-CA, 6th), Chair of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections of the House Committee on Education and Labor, held a hearing last week entitled “The Family and Medical Leave Act: Extending Coverage to Military Families Left at Home." <<more>> 2. Conference Addresses Needs of Wounded Service Members: The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) in conjunction with the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI) and the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) hosted a Defense Forum last week in Washington to address the vital healthcare needs of our military and veterans. <<more>> 3. Patient Support between DoD and the VA’s Polytrauma System: There has been a great deal of focus lately on the ability of DoD and the VA to transfer records and sufficiently support those seriously wounded and those transitioning veterans between the two health care systems.<<more>> 4. VA Reaches Out to Former Prisoners of War: The Veterans Affairs (VA) is reaching out to any former Prisoners of War (POW) or their family members.<<more>> 5. Educational Council Holds Annual Meeting: The Advisory Council on Dependents’ Education (ACDE) held their annual meeting last week at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) headquarters.<<more>> 6. Operation Purple™ Summer Camp Proposals Now Being Accepted: With the successful completion of the 2007 Operation Purple™ Summer Camp program, NMFA is now accepting camp proposals for next year.<<more>> Serving the Families of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.
