Standing, I was not bothered by the cold of the land.
A girl child approached with a smile that was glowing.
As she wiped soft snow from the glove of my hand,
A smile I returned as the cold winds would blow.
She continued her work, when my smile turned to dread.
Her smile remained, her tiny hands, swollen and red.
Poor Albanian baby my mind thought as I departed in haste,
Walking away with a promise, a lie unbeknownst
To buy her some gloves for those small hands that wave.
My head turned back, and waving she was with a smile.
Saying goodbye with little hands of unfeeling pain.
'Til death do I part, I told the Lord my lie will remain
To return with glorious gloves as my redemption for
Her happy smiling face and her tiny hands of no pain.

Wow...that's really good...I think I read about this experience in one of your blogs a little bit ago. Ugh, I don't know what else to say except its really good, and I hate that I can never come up with more to say for anything, but....that's all I can think of. So, yeah. Hopefully that will suffice...

Very powerful, and well said. Two word choices that struck me as odd were: "would blow" and "of no pain.", but that may be just me. One more suggestion to try would be to remove excess wordage. An example would be the first two lines:
Standing, bothered not by the cold of the land,
I watched a girl child approach, smile glowing.
Overall, excellent.
