~REMEMBERING OUR VETERANS~

SOME GAVE ALL--ALL GAVE SOME

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord........ ......... ....."

Psalm 33: 12.
************ ********* ********* ********* ********* **
We remember those today who have served our Country in any capacity. We also
take time out for a moment of prayer for our Nation, our President, lawmakers,
and all in active duty or reserves, across this land, as well as their families. May we
always remember our soldiers and country in prayer.

November 11th is the Day set aside as a very important holiday to observe
Veteran's Day in this country. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower
signed a bill into law for this day to be in honor of our country's veterans.
This day was formerly called 'Armistice day' as President Woodrow Wilson
had proclaimed it as such in 1919, and it became a national holiday in 1938.

On this day, our County has many patriotic speeches, parades, and other
observances in honor of those who served in the Armed Forces. Many lost
their lives, and many have the scars of battle or memories of time spent
in service for our Country. Thousands are buried in Arlington National
Cemetery outside Washington, D. C., and other cemeteries, who gave their lives
in time of battle. These, as the unknown soldier, are gone, but not forgotten.
This is the day we set aside in remembrance of all who gave willingly to
protect the freedom of their Country. We give thanks for these as we
remember, and also those who are serving today.

We have seen wars and battles since Bible days. Even in Old Testament
days , the Lord told his people to go in and possess the land. He had given
them the land, but it was up to them to go in and drive out the enemy as God went
before them. They fought for their freedom and what had been given them
by the Lord. These Saints of old were in a battle against the forces of evil, and
many of these lost their lives, but gained a far better country. When we read
Hebrews 11, we see the heroes of the faith and how they endured by seeing what
the Lord had prepared for those who believed in Him. We also remember these as
ensamples, ( examples), and know if we fight the good fight of faith, we also shall
enter into all the promises of the Lord and eternal rest. We are in the greatest
Army of all and have been given mighty weapons of warfare and the whole
armor of God.

In this day of terrorist threats, wars, and rumors of war, there is still hope in
God. He promised never to leave us or forsake us. Blessed is a Nation whose
God is the Lord. As we join in prayer for our Nation and all across this world, may
we remember the price paid for our freedom. Many gave all.....all gave
some, and there are those today still willing to serve their Country for the sake
of freedom. We know not what the future holds for our Country, but we do know
who holds the future. In Him, we can be secure, as He will be with us always.

Our Lord gave His all that we might have everything. He willingly laid down
His life that we might have a new life and take up our cross daily to follow him.
We are soldiers in the Army of our Lord and have a Commander-In- Chief who
goes before us every day to lead us in victory. In the good fight of faith, we
have a promise of a crown of life and a better country awaiting. We must
endure as a good soldier of the cross. Take time out to say a prayer for our
Country, leaders, lawmakers, also those in service both at home and
in foreign lands. We remember the fallen, their families, and friends
today; and give thanks for those who serve their country.

We also pray that we, as Christians, might see the admonition of our Lord
in 2 Chronicles 7: 14, as He promises... "if my people which are called by

my name, shall humble themselves and seek my face, and turn from

their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven; and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land."

This whole world needs the prayers of God's people that all might come
to know and trust in Him. He has called each one into active duty but many
have not heeded the call. May we seek to share and care for every soul who
has not answered the call of the Lord. He will bless and hear our every prayer.
Our Lord guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.

Blessings In Christ,

'Thank you' to all our veterans and all those who serve our country! May God
watch over you and keep you in His love and protection is our prayer.
God bless you!
************ *********

Poem written in memory of my Father, Chief Master Sargent,

United States Air Force, Joseph R. Phillips II., deceased,

who faithfully served our county and was a veteran
of World War II, the Korean War, and Viet-Nam war.

His final covering was not only the drape of the U. S. Flag,
it was the blood of Jesus Christ, our heavenly Commander-In- Chief;
who hung the stars, bore the stripes, and in Him, we are free, yes, free indeed!

{2 Timothy 4: 7-8}

~ SOME GAVE ALL~

All gave some...Some gave all
Many young men & women heeded the call,
They went into battle knowing the cost,
Many suffered and died....Some are still lost.

They left home and family to protect our land
And served their country by taking a stand,
In a battleground on foreign soil,
Many were wounded, but some gave all.

Many a Mother still mourns a child who died
Children mourn a parent, remembering their last goodbye.
A friend who never returned, has their name engraved in stone,
Many a wife or loved one.....was left behind all alone.

Will there be more wars and loss of lives in our land?
Only God knows the future....but we can rest safely in his hands.
He will be with us until the very end,
When sin is finally defeated.... .. in His Kingdom we shall stand.

We must pray for the Soldiers who fight for what is right
And seek God's face in humility.... as we walk in His gospel light.
He will hear and answer.... as no other one can do,
His faithfulness is promised, we have a God who is always true.

THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE
~STILL WON'T RUN~

The red, white and blue will cover me
when my life is done
Many a good man has lost his blood,
over these colors, and did not run,

So when protesters are showing disgrace,
for these freedom colors
Just tell them to be careful, who they invite to the protest
Because there are still a few of us that still won’t run.

So when you cover me for the last time
with those colors, red, white, and blue
Remember all my brothers and sisters
who chose these colors, and were true,

And in doing so gave us this great nation, that we all belong
Because the red ,white, and blue will cover me, when at last I am gone,
But be for sure, there are many others coming behind me,
That feel the same way as I do, and will not run.

So, my brothers & sisters, we know the real true story
It’s grounded very deep in our hearts,
That these colors mean valor, freedom, and victory,
Meaning the RED,WHITE, & BLUE will never come apart,

So cover me slowly with the colors that mean so much
Fold the colors slowly. and present them to my love ones
That the RED,WHITE, & BLUE ,
will find it’s final resting place.

PATRIOTIC QUOTES AND ONE-LINERS

"Those who sacrifice essential liberty for temporary safety are
not deserving of either liberty or safety." ...Benjamin Franklin

Patriotism is easy to understand in America; it means looking
out for yourself by looking out for your country.
~ Calvin Coolidge

Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior
to all other countries because you were born in it.
~ George Bernard Shaw

"The GOD who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time"...Thomas Jefferson
A thoughtful mind, when it sees a Nation's flag, sees not the flag
only, but the Nation itself; and whatever may be its symbols,

its insignia, he reads chiefly in the flag the Government,

the principles, the truths, the history which belongs
to the Nation that sets it forth.
~ Henry Ward Beecher

"It's better to fix what's wrong, than to blame whose wrong."
