Girlfriend asks for space?

We havent been going out for long we started hanging out about 4 months ago and started officially dating about 1.5 months ago. I know she is going through alot right now it is almost finals week for college so class and studying now is a big issue as she takes her work seriously , she works almost every day of the week, and keeping a relationship can be tough. I completely understand that.

She told me that she knows it would be a huge mistake if she let me go and broke up and she said she just wants time and space for these next 2-3 weeks till finals are over because she feels stressed with all the work. I am her first boyfriend shes had since she just got out of a long relationship about a year ago im not sure if she still has feelings for him.

I heard the no contact thing, but its tough because we see eachother everyday in class, and she knew this and she still wants me to sit next to her ...i dont know im just confused any help would be great
