What can I do after the Army? I plan to join the Army (and hopefully be able to make it into SF) after I graduate High School. What I'm asking is, are there any programs that will help me afford college after I put in my time? I really want a PHd in Astronomy, and I actually have the brains for it. So, would I get aid financially? Also, are there any decent paying jobs that you are qualified for after military training?Thank you.Ok thank you all. Yes I do realize how tough SF training is and that I might not make it. Also, to the carpentry answer, I am actually pretty good in construction, which is why I want to be an Engineer Sergeant.

What can I do after the Army? If you have enough between your ears, and your ASVAB scores are high enouigh you could apply to be a SF medic. IF, and that is a BIG if you complete the training you can have a future in the medical field almost anywhere in the world.

What can I do after the Army? Use your GI Bill and remember that your time in the Army will instill self and team discipline, work ethic, confidence, and a lot of other positive attributes that employers seeks. It won't, however, provide you with the academic degrees that are needed for high paying jobs. That's where the GI Bill comes in. Get all the information you can about it and ensure that you follow the rules to the letter. Start school earlier rather than later. Depending on your job, you may have time to get some general ed course completed while you're on active duty. Take as much science and math as you can so that your are able to breeze through the academic rigors of an Astronomy program. Then, start reading and writing as much as you can. The better you are at these skills, the easier school will be, especially when you get to the PhD. level. Remember, you can earn a Masters and PhD. at the same time. Look for programs that allow that and you'll save time and money.

What can I do after the Army? Military people in general are preferred in the work force because of the discipline they have (show up on time for work, do the job they are assigned to do). as far as jobs specifically related to your MOS, that is a choice you make. If you choose a job that is very military specific, such as infantry or tanker or Artillery, then of course you can' get a civilian job doing the same thing. the GI bill will help you pay for college after he military. and they also have a program called E-Army online that you can do on active duty. you sign up, and get a laptop computer to take classes online. if you continue to do the classes, you get to keep the laptop, however if you don't you have to pay for it, or give it back.If you are planning to go into the special forces, I would recommend that you go Airborne Infantry first. that way you get the basics down, and also you will do a higher level of PT and learn the teamwork.
