Why is my intelligence so narrow?

I am good at one thing and one thing only - the lithosphere (one of the 4 major components to geography). Beyond that, everything I am too stupid to do - biology, virology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, reading, chess and practically every game, writing, spelling (I use spell check), math, socializing, exercising, volcanology, geology, seismology, all the arts including martial arts, EVERYTHING! Even in geography, I such horribly at atmospheric sciences, the hydrosphere, the cryosphere, and the biosphere. Even aspects of the lithosphere I suck at like any landscape modified by glaciers. Why is it that my intelligence is so narrow compared to other people? My friend Charles is great at so much more than me. He knows way more about chemistry, math, english, spanish, french, computers, money, law, everything really.

the people who seem "really talented" like your friend Charles could be because he is putting more effort in those subjects than you are the people who get the furthest are the hardest of workers

You are limiting yourself into thinking you can't where as it seems to me like you are a quitter when you come across a problem, however you were able to throw out so many topics at once, you really should try and stick with one first and make up your mind to master it until moving onto the next subject, you are stereotyping your self and your friend which in turn you are cutting yourself short in doing so. You have to commit to figuring it out or you just won't and there you have it, your intelligence becomes narrow and you become narrow minded. Stop limiting yourself, slow down and breathe and do one thing at a time until you get through it flawlessly, it will happen, you are by no means stupid, that is reflected in your question of thought, you just give up too easy, so stop it already and good luck.

You do have a great advantage here however. You are aware of many subjects and topics and understand how far you'd have to go to be knowledgeable in them. That is far ahead of many other people who simply have no interest in obtaining any knowledge in anything.I feel the same way. I'm good at a few things, but just can't seem to get my head around other things that others catch on to quickly. So I stick with what I know - my job, and certain interests. And accept defeat on everything else. I am a productive person and pull my own weight in society, but have also modified my life to fit into the restraints of limited intellectual ability. (BTW. I used "Spell Check.")

Uh, narrow, yet not so much. After all, that's where just about everything happens, right? How can you be good at learning about the lithosphere, and bad at EVERYTHING else? Learning about the lithosphere involves chemistry, biology, and physics, to name a few fields.Figure out what it is that makes you good in that area, then apply the same ability to other things.
