phospholipid - keep excess water out of the cell and regulate what goes in an out

steriod - keep phospholipds from sticking together and regulate the cell membrance fluidity

proteins - to aid in the transport of things inside and outside the cell

phospholipid - have polar heads and nonpolar tails and make up the fluid mosaic model which is the outside that gives it structure

cholestrol - allows the structure to be flexible so the phospholipids can move more freely; maintains fluidity

transfer proteins - connector between inside and outside of cell that allow substances in and out of the membran

carbohydrate chains - give the membrane a specific shape
