| biology 30 question help?
Scientists have developed techniques aimed at getting highly-specialized cells to act as if they are immature cells that have not yet become specialized. why would scientists want to be able to to get a mature nerve cell to respond like a cell that hasn't undergone specialization?

because a matured nerve cell cannot undergo mitosis anymore, which means it will not be able to reproduce. This means if any damage or natural death of nerve cells occur, the effects will be irreversible. However, an unspecialised cell can still reproduce itself and can be later specialized into a nerve cell. This is aimed to cure diseases related to nerve damage.
