| biology glucose breakdown?
Glucose breakdown is ____. a an endergonic reaction proceeding from low-energy molecules to high-energy molecules b coupled with ATP breakdown c combined with carbon dioxide to form oxygen plus water d an oxidation-reduction reaction |

None are actually correct. Glucose is broken down by a couple of metabolic pathways (glycolysis and Krebs cycle) to yield CO2, ATP and reduced electron carriers. But this is a series of reactions, not a single reaction. So b is out. ATP is made not used. C is out - CO2 is made. Its either a or d but neither is really correct. There is a couple of oxidation-reduction reactions (1 in glycolysis, 3 in Krebs cycle and 1 linking theses cycles) but most reactions are not redox. Likewise, (a) there are some energonic reactions (eg the substrate level phosphorylation reactions) but most are exergonic. So no answer is really correct.
