hand side of the back? im 27 and got up this morn and have had a pain there since....i get back pain that time of the month so i know what back pain feels like and tis not that...its just above my hipbone on the right hand side!dont know if it matters or related but i had bad pains in my thighs yday but not as bad now - but think that may have been from all the boogieing sat night!lol any suggestions pls?ta

the kidneys are nearer the back than front on both sides, but it's unlikely to be anything to with that. if your thighs hurt as well and you were dancing lots it more likely that you've strained some muscles. just don't do anything strenuous, and rest when you can and you'll be fine in a day or two. If it lasts more than a week, go to a doctor as you might as damaged something

There are kidneys on both sides and on the left side there is the liver. The appendix is on that side as well, connected to the intestines.

I would go to the doctor on the small chance that it is appendicitis. It can be pretty nasty, so It's always worth getting checked out.
