Extremophiles: how does their biology give us insights into the evolution of...

...life on our planet (or others)? How do I even approach this topic and break it down? I'm writing a paper and need help....I've tried finding sources but to no avail; the topic is either explained in an overcomplicated way or not explained enough.
Someone help!!!
