biology major from community college to university?

i am going to a community college and then transfering to a university. i wish to get a bachelors degree in biochemistry. how ever the community college does not offer biochemistry. should i major in biology in the community college or chemistry, or both? keep in mind i do not want to do anything with teaching biology.

pogo has a spectacular aura about
if your community college is anything like CA schools, if you are transferring then you'll major in University Studies only. The community college will only offer the basic science courses needed for an introduction to the sciences, you'll specialise in biochem at the university in your final 2 years. The university will have a list of required courses to take for entry to biochem degrees which will tell u exactly what science courses to take.

Only the big community colleges in cities would possibly have 1 course in biochem, like in san diego they have a lot of biotech courses coz the industry is based here. It's meant for kids who just want to assist in a biotech lab and not go on to a BS level. We actually have just a certificate in biotech.

If you were starting at a 4 yr university and bypassing the community college, they prob wouldn't allow u to start biochem classes till your 2nd or 3rd yr anyway, you need to get the basics done first.
