| What functions are in the Muscular System? (how does it work)? The muscular system is primarily for movement. It works by interacting with motor neurons in the nervous system that stimulate muscle to contract. |

| What functions are in the Muscular System? (how does it work)? The muscular system functions to provide skeletal movement. Muscles typically expand a joint which allows flexion, extension, etc. The way that the muscle works is through the Sliding Filament Theory. This theory acknowledges that ACh is the neurotransmitter that causes a Ca++ influx from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. In turn, this allows ATP to be converted to ADP and causes the muscle fibers to shorten. |
