| whats the best college in hawaii for marine biology? thx? I received my B.S. in Biology many years ago at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) and am still working in ichthyology. Chaminade University and Hawaii Pacific University also offer courses in marine biology but I would consider UHM to be the best choice for undergraduate work. For graduate work in marine biology or in oceanography UHM is clearly the best (and only) choice.UHM offers a B.S. in Marine Biology and masters and doctoral degrees in oceanography, you can specialize in biological oceanography. Here is a list of their degrees. You can find further informatin from there:http://www.catalog.hawaii.edu/schoolscolleges/arts-sciences/departments/biol.htmChaminade offers a few courses in marine biology and the environment. Search the catalog (CTRL-F) for "marine"http://www.chaminade.edu/catalog/pdf/current/CUH_catalog.pdfHawaii Pacific University (HPU) is a private downtown university without much of a campus but they do offer a B.S. in Biology and a B.S. in Oceanography:http://www.hpu.edu/index.cfm?section=undergrad22The advantage of being at UHM is that in your junior and senior years you will usually be able to take higher courses specifically in your area of marine science. |
