How does living in colonies contribute to the survival of bees?

They all have certain roles. One bee could not, polinate flowers, make honey, build a hive, have babies, and raise them unless there are other bees around. Each bee contributes something to the colony. They all depend on each other.

When an organism lives in a group, it has the chance to evolve. Therefore, it gives the opportunity to change the bad allele out and take in the better ones. If it was an invidividual it couldn't reproduce with itself, etc...

Bees can live in colonies of up to 60,000. They all contribute to making honey (carbohydrate food) and collecting pollen (protein food) which are both vital nutrients for their survival. In each colony, you have one queen bee whos sole purpose is to lay eggs. There are hundreds of drone bees (sexually productive males) who are used to impregnate the queen. Whenever you look inside a bee hive, you'll see combs where the honey collects. They are also used to raise adolescent bees to replace the older aging bees. The older bees feed and take care of the younger bees by getting closer and closer together during the colder months. The colder the air, the tighter the bees are in the hive. Without that vital heat for the young bees, they simply would not survive.
