Biology Help; More Practise Exam Questions I Can't Answer. :[?

I've done all the questions I can do; so these are the ones left.Thank you SOOO much to anyone who answers, I'm going out of my mind with frustration right now!1. A student predicted that if a temperature graph was prepared for carrot catalase activity, the optimal temperature would be expected to be much lower than that shown by catalase from humans.- Outline an experiment you would carry lut with pieces of carrot to test the accuracy of the student's prediction. Hydrogen peroxide is available as a 3% in water solution. Explain fully what results would support or negate the student's prediction.2. It is now widely accepted by biologists that chloroplasts and mitochondria were once independent prokaryotic organisms which came to live symbiotically inside larger eukaryotic cells. This idea is known as the endosymbiotic theory for the origin of these organelles.3. Identify the organelle that is abundant in the cytosol of the plasma cell.Explain the specific role of this organelle in the plasma cell.4. Explain how a monosaccharide cell enters an epithelial cell.5. For what purpose would a cell use a lipid monomer.6. Some changes in the DNA of these telomeres can trigger the development of cancer. Scientists are working to detect these changes in telomeres at an early stage of their development.- Outline one advantage of being able to detect early changes in telomere DNA.7. Name one application of molecular biology in medicine that you studied this year and outline the significance of its use.8. Why does the antibody repsonse increase with each vaccination?

3. Nucleus is the most abundant. Controls the cell. contains DNA [coded instructions for protein synthesis] and RNA[ carry the instructions to the ribosomes]5. For what purpose would a cell use a lipid monomer. ..I can only think of the phospholipid bilayer [the cell membrane] but thats a polymer.8. Why does the antibody repsonse increase with each vaccination? .. I think it might be because the person is injected with a small dose of the actual virus with each vaccination. and for the every vaccination, that dose is increased, so that the body becomes immune to it.

Biology Help; More Practise Exam Questions I Can't Answer. :[?

lol unit 3 exam 2morrow? these r from previous exams yea1. 1. two groups of carrot (specific number?), 2. heat one group to 37 degrees (human body temp) and cool other to 16 degrees (soil temp). 3. put them both in same volume of hydrogen peroxide solution4. see which one reacts more (by comparing amount of oxygen produced, as oxygen is a product) having a higher range of temperatures tested might be better but just two (37 and 16) works2. They both have DNA in them, and ribosomes as well, which suggests that they were once able to make their own genetic material.3. Ribosomes? I think ive come across this question before its either ribosomes or mitochondria provided that the plasma cell u r talking about is B plasma cell. Ribosomes synthesise protein for antibodies as antibdies r made out of protein. Mitochondria might help produce ATP for exocytosis of antibodies after syntesis.4. Facilitated diffusion. Glucose enters with a carrier molecule across a protein channel. This was in my text book Nature of Biology book 2.5. Uh. Not sure. Lipid monomer = steroid? For hormonal responses? As steroids are lipophilic and readily diffuse across plasma membrane.6. So that treatment can be made earlier without trouble arising later on. (sounds like stupid question to ask in an exam but could be right)7. Rational drug design. Finding shapes of active sites of viruses such as influenza's neuraminidase and designing a drug that fits in it to inhibit its action.8. Increasing amount of memory cells.Im probably putting my own marks at risk by helping u but MEH. Now u might get higher and raise the standard. GL on the exam 2morrow!
