It is not illegal to teach biology in America and in the time I have lived, been educated, and have taught in the United States, it has never been illegal to my knowledge to teach biology. I took it in high school and college.

In many states of the U.S. it is illegal to teach many aspects of HUMAN BIOLOGY. In most school systems general biology is (was) a required high school course. No doubt that the reproduction of anything of a higher order than an amoeba is probably heavily censored.

It was never illegal to teach biology in the US but some states prohibited the teaching of the Theory of Evolution, believing it to be blasphemous. While I think schools can now teach the theory in every state, there are still some states that insist that it should be taught alongside creationism or Intelligent Design. Fundamentalist Christians still have a significant influence in American Politics and Education, particularly in the Bible Belt, states like Oklahoma and Kansas.
