Do what you enjoy. Money isn't every thing. When you are in a high paying job that you do not enjoy, you end up spending most of your salary on doctors and medication.

I think E.M.B. (endangered. marine. biology.) pays the best. You are helping the endangered marine life in the world. If you like dolphins and whales and other animals I think you will LOVE this job. I can relate to you I love animals too, they are like my life.(even though my cat passed away.) So try hard at this and I think you will get paid much like you wanted to. But money isn't important it is what you enjoy doing! So do what you love!

Pay can range greatly in this field. Pay depends on how high a degree you have, the experience you have and who you work for. Also, most people that go into this sort of work do it because of their passion and love of animals, not for the money they will make. Sure, I understand you want to actually make a living..and you CAN working at this profession, but don't count on ever being rich. Generally the higher the degree and the more experience you have, the higher your salary will be. Keep in mind that non-profits and environmental consultant firms will pay you more than a government agency such as US Fish and Wildlife Service, etc. would pay you.

The bulk of the work a wildlife biologist does has little to nothing to do with working with animals on a daily basis. They do a lot of radio tracking, paperwork, research etc.... Zookeepers however work daily with wild animals in captivity. I agree that money isn't everything, and if you are truly interested in getting into zoology, you need to realize that the only ones getting paid the big bucks are PhD research zoologists.
