taking medical school prerequisite classes requirements in college? freshman get last pick for classes???

most freshman entering college do not get the classes they want because seniors get the first pick, then juniors etc, and so they get whats left. i want to go to medical school but im majoring in philosophy so im more on my own. i have to complete the min requirements by the end of my junior year and a friend told me that biology, chem and other science classes are "major classes" meaning they are hard to get. how do premed majors get these classes freshman year and i cant? and is this really true that i wont be able to take my science requirements until JUNIOR YEAR when they arent as filled up???

Well, first of all, freshmen register last, seniors first - that's true. That's so people who are closer to their degree get the classes they need.Second of all, if you are enrolled in a science major (at least at the college I attended) those majors got an early enrolment for their required courses - meaning if you were a freshmen but had declared biology as your major, you were allowed to register with the sophmores for only your biology classes. So, basically you will be behind both the other classes and the science majors.Go see an accademic advisor and ask them what to do.By the way, why are you majoring in philosophy if you want to go to med school? Why don't you major in a science and minor in philosophy? Med schools are hard to get into and you don't want them saying "what's a philosophy major doing in this stack of chemistry majors?"
