IB extended essay biology topic help!?

have to find a suitable topic for Extended Essay. I am intrested in biology, so i was researching topics for biology. At first, i was planning on doing the effect ammonia has on the growth on plants, however my teacher told me not to, as many students do the effect of various fertilizers.

So, i need to come up with a new topic... and the topic idea is due this friday. Can you guys help me?

I need to find a "simple" topic that i can experiment and get results in school. Our school does not have any lab mice, and our teacher is against using living specimen... (we also do not have super fancy equipment).

I was wondering if i could do a topic, that used a spectrophotometer......... any ideas? (even ideas without the use of the spectrophotometer would be superb...)

questions such as, "the effect of BLAH on the growth/production/etc of BLAH" would be great!
