do you even wonder why your toe/fingernails keeps on growing?
or why does your hair keeps growing longer and longer each day?

Bone is a dynamic tissue as it is very much alive. Osteoclasts remove calcium from bones allowing for the shaping of the tissue in conjunction with osteoblast activity, which deposits calcium into the bones. Both often function at the same time. The cells aren't really destroyed by the osteoclasts. Osteoclasts remove bone matrix. Calcium removed by osteoclasts is recycled or passed in urine. Osteoclast activity is stimulated by low calcium levels in the blood while osteoblast activity is stimulated by high calcium. Hence, the bone, like adipose tissue for fats, is the body's storage center for calcium.
