| Why doesn't everyone take a strong interest in biology? I'm probably preaching to the choir by asking this here, but why don't people want to know about their biology? I have always been fascinated by how the different levels of biological organization come together to make a living organism, like myself. Biology class always gave me goosebumps, and I have never been able to understand why learning biology doesn't affect everyone the same way.
I realize that most people drive cars without any interest in understanding how the car works, but what if you ARE the car? Wouldn't you want to know at least a little about auto mechanics?
Part of why I'm asking this is because I spend a lot of time in the "Religion and Spirituality" section, where questions and answers about evolution have convinced me that a huge proportion of society has essentially no understanding or interest in biology whatsoever.
You can see it here in this section too. There seem to be a lot of students here that don't want to learn biology. They just copy their questions here and then copy our answers for their homework. |
