| Here's one for the books: proof of existence of "God"? http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20080407/tsc-uk-science-particle-011ccfa.html In short; a - Atheistic - scientist believes in the existence of a particle that pretty much keeps us together, which makes us what we are. He believes that, with the research being done in CERN, it will be found soon and he would be surprised if it isn't. The particle is dubbed the "God" particle due to it's *creating* nature, I assume. But contrary to the common belief of God, this particle will not be a conscious entity. Will christian fundamentalist "scientists" consider this proof of the existence of "God"? I only got it from Yahoo-news and didn't look into it. Any quotation or citation can most likely be found in the link I gave *to* that article, in which the said scientist's name appears more than once (but I wanted to keep my question short... ) and I am sure that there are dozens upon dozens of links to websites either from said scientist or anything related to him in the article, to be found on the internet. If that isn't citation enough, I could always suggest to have a talk with him, or his colleagues at Cern, and see what they have to say. I was simply following up on christian fundamental "logic" (if there is such a thing at all) starting from; "we are not like cats or dogs, hence we are not animals *or* mammals", going through, "archaeologists found something that looks like a chariot wheel in the red sea, so Mozes did split it and that is the wheel of the Pharao's chariot", and others. I don't know much about particles, to be honest, but from what I could read into the text, it is meant to be some kind of *binding* particle that keeps us together and makes us who we are, compared to just being 120 lbs of carbon (for example) Even in my opinion it has nothing to do with God. But as I said; following up on christian fundamental logic will they consider it proof that without it we wouldn't be here, hence that God exists? I think I might've seen it being used in a Chick tract, actually... Wel, dewcoons - I did say I don't know anything about particles, let alone know that theory. Again, as I said; I was only wondering what christian fundamentalism would do with such a finding, when or if they find it. |
