Can anyone recommend ..... ?

"One Bullet Away" by Nathaniel Fick is a great book. Also Philip Caputo's "A Rumor of War" (Vietnam era). Both are top notch autobiographies--wonderfully written.I know you're not interested in WW2 books but I've gotta say "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer was by far the most powerful memoir I've ever come across.

Well to start off with the top dog of all of them:"Black Hawk Down" by Mark Bowden, about the one-hour raid in Somalia in 1993 that turned into all-out firefight lasting for more then 2 days."House to House: A Memoir Of War" by David Bellavia, one of the best-selling first-hand accounts about Operation Phantom Fury, the attack on Fallujah. These two you will definitely want to pick up and read, I can guarantee you'll enjoy them.I'm sure its what you're referring to in your post, but also "Lone Survivor" about the tragic mission gone wrong in Afghanistan with a recon group of SEALs.As for others, Dick Couch has many top sellers about Special Ops training, like the SEALs "Warrior Elite" and the Green Beret's "Chosen Soldier"

You should look for a book called "Military Justice is to Justice what Military Music is to Music"

Highly recommended.
