| Can anyone recommend ..... ? "One Bullet Away" by Nathaniel Fick is a great book. Also Philip Caputo's "A Rumor of War" (Vietnam era). Both are top notch autobiographies--wonderfully written.I know you're not interested in WW2 books but I've gotta say "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer was by far the most powerful memoir I've ever come across. |

| Can anyone recommend ..... ? Well to start off with the top dog of all of them:"Black Hawk Down" by Mark Bowden, about the one-hour raid in Somalia in 1993 that turned into all-out firefight lasting for more then 2 days."House to House: A Memoir Of War" by David Bellavia, one of the best-selling first-hand accounts about Operation Phantom Fury, the attack on Fallujah. These two you will definitely want to pick up and read, I can guarantee you'll enjoy them.I'm sure its what you're referring to in your post, but also "Lone Survivor" about the tragic mission gone wrong in Afghanistan with a recon group of SEALs.As for others, Dick Couch has many top sellers about Special Ops training, like the SEALs "Warrior Elite" and the Green Beret's "Chosen Soldier" |
