Are books gonna become obsolete one day?

I think they're just going to change formats like they're going to go into e-book or online format. Though sometimes I wonder. Its just easy to watch a movie because that also tells a story. But I love to read although I've noticed its hard to stick to a book because they require more patience. Entertainment like movies and music are so fast these days, I understand why books don't sell as much as they do but still, I wonder will they become obsolte? I hope not.
obsolete*

oh and for those too lazy to use dictionary.com, obsolete means: no longer in general use. In other words extinct.

Hehe, I liked your explanation of obsolete. I hope not, I love to read, its much a much different form of entertainment. I'm the opposite of you I guess, I could read all day and never get bored, but I have trouble watching Tv and especially movies. I prefer to hold the book in my hands too I'm not a fan of ebooks. After being on the comp all day I don't want to get back on to read. It would be a sad day that there are no more books.

Perhaps one day, but not anytime soon. People have been predicting the death of the book since computers were born. Hasn't happened yet.

In fact people even predicted that paper would become obsolete but we are using more paper today than ever.

The technology for paperless society is there but us humans are tactile and we like holding things in our hands and touching them and because of that simple fact, e-books and a lot of paperless things just don't 'feel' right.

I really hope not. I mean, I enjoy movies like anyone else, and I'm always online, but sitting down with a good book and relaxing, is just, one pleasure I'd never want to give up.
