How safe to book room in a hotel with girlfriend, what are the hotel formalities.?

I am meeting my girlfriend and we are planning to meet somewhere out from the city..what should I do, should I book the room togather (as a husband wife ) or should I book the room alone and she should come to visit me as a visitor ( we wil not stay for night, she will go to her home in the daytime after meeting me)....what are the hotel formatlities ( am looking for safe side for both us, like will they allow if we book the hotel as a friends..(sex is not the issue, but our meeting is the main priority, we want to talk comfortably and hotel is the only option, but I am wondering about the risk involve in booking hotel room, though meeting outside is also risk for the girl....plz guide me about the hotel formalities..
