I Read a book long ago & can't recall title/author?

I Read a book long ago & can't recall title/author-was a historical romance called "monk in the wall" or "cross in the wall" or something like that. I remember that it swapped between past and present and was about an old house which the main character seemed to recognise and turned out that her lover from hundreds of years before had been a monk and was therefore tried for having a relationship with her and buried alive in a secret wall in the house she'd recognised -anybody think this seems familiar?
