Books vs. Movies?

Why is it that whatever you read or see first, seems some much better then the other.

Ex: reading first then watching the movie, the book seemed better or vice versa.

Not true for me! I read the Harry Potter book, and it was jsut OK, more on the boring side. When I saw the movies, I was amazed!
