When making reading inferences, how can you make sure the inference is what the... ...author implied? i am in a reading class in college. In that class we are learning how to make correct inferences about reading materials. If you have any suggestions about how I can look for proof in the passage or how to better find inferences in the passages, I would appreciate your comments! Thank you

THe only thing I can add to aki's excellent answer -- check other sources of the author's work. Is this interpretation consistent with other works, maybe interviews with author. Authors do complain loudly that readers jump to conclusions. Sometimes the answer is to READ THE WORDS ON THE PAGE. Don't get too tricky.

it is difficult to make a correct inference as to what the author is implying exactly, you can be close, sometimes you can be correct. but who knows if some texts were designed to be read the way they are, maybe they were just written for boredoms sake. but the best you can do is research the authors context in an attempt to drag out the best possible inference
