Nick has a spectacular aura about
"A ship in harbor is safe, but thats not what ships are built for" -Author?

There are many different versions, and people listed online for the quote "A ship in a harbor is safe- but thats not what ships are built for." Who is this quote originally by? I found it attributed to John A. Shedd as well as William Thayer Shedd. But neither seems very certain. Who is it by? Someone else completely?
