Any one good in the study of botany? Really need your help!!?

I am doing a science project about how well do diffrent types wood absorb water, and i need to know how to describe density in wood, or the meaning of density when it comes to describing wood?what does it mean?

for the most part, the higher the density of wood means the better it absorbs and retains water. high density trees are found in very wet climates such as the rainforest. dryer, less dense trees are typically found in colder, dryer climates. I think the main thing that you need to know is that the more dense the wood is, the more water it has inside of it. So the types of wood that are very dense are much better at absorbing water.

um density= mass/volume.
so if you can get the mass of the pieces of wood using a balance and either cut the same size volume of wood, then u can figure out density.

Technically, density is the mass of something divided by its volume. If 20 grams has a volume of 25 cubic cm. the density would be 20/25 or 0.8 g/cm^3 Some people may consider density like hardness, and I suppose they are related.
