Grass-Why does grass appear to be green in color and what makes it that color? 4-26-08?

I have always wondered why is the grass green and what makes it appear green, why can't the grass be red instead of green, oh wait it can be a mixture of red and green since those are the popular Christmas colors.this question was posted because I love Botany.

grass (and other green plants) have a green pigment called chlorophyll in them which is used in photosynthesis

The grass is green because plant cells have chloroplasts which makes them green when they get sunlight and water. So, their chloroplast makes them green instead of red
