| How do different ground temperatures affect plants? As a novice gardener, what I observe indicates that if the ground is cold ,plants which normally would be growing, are dormant. If there is a warm spell, plants which should be dormant will sprout and grow. This is especially true with bulb flowers like daffodils, jonquils, tulips, etc. There are vegetables which will grow whether the weather is cold or warm while others require much heat before they mature. |
