Career choice??I have a degree in biological sciences-(Botany and Zoology),?

I have worked in a tea research firm in the area of plant pathology for 2 years. My problem is that i dont feel settled in this area, and im supposed to enrol in a MSC Crop protection course this year. How relevant is this course? wl i gain a competitive edge?
Deep down i want to do medical microbiology, but this will mean sarcrificing my job and i'll have to sponsor myself. Should i follow my heart?
