She apparently had chemotherapy and radiation, and was declared cancer free in February - - but recently there has been a reported recurrence. If this is in the radiation therapy field, a recurrence this soon is not good news. But I do not get the impression that it is end stage disease at all right now. She has already had the best treatments, so the next options are likely to be more experimental. From what I have read, she is a determined fighter.

I believe that her malignancy is a type that is being seen with increasing frequency and may be related to the human papilloma virus (HPV) for which there is now a vaccine recommended for young women. It may be in a sensitive and embarrassing location. She has asked for privacy and she deserves that consideration.
