| HPV and Cervical Cancer?
My girlfriend has had a form of cervical cancer caused by a strand of HPV. If we have sex, am I at all at risk of being infected with HPV that causes genital warts, or even the strand of HPV that causes cervical cancer in women? Thanks |

If she has been treated for the HPV, then no. HPV is curable with antibiotics. Cervical cancer is caused when it doesn't resolve on its own (most HPV does) and goes untreated for too long. You can't catch HPV from cervical cancer. But I would still use a condom to be on the safe side. |

Yes, and contrary to previously answered, Valtrex does not prevent the spread of herpes or HPV. Oral cancers are increasing in males as theu are contracting HPV from oral sex. Once you get a virus, you will always have it. It can go dormant & then reactivate & cause an outbreak of lesions or warts. If you have had sex with her then you most likely already have it. It is a very common virus, spread skin to skin contact, over 100 types of HPV, some types are considered high riskfor causing cervical cancer & other cancers OB/GYN RN |
