9 Weeks pregnant and in contact with Cancer Patient.?

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted some advice, maybe i am over reacting but wanted to make sure... I was visiting a friend of my husbands today and have visited a few times in last 4 weeks. She did not know i was pregnant saw her today and she had a Chemo session yesterday and also she had it couple of weeks ago when i was pregnant as well..
I have heard that it is bad for pregnant women to be in contact with Cancer patients when they are having treatment just wanted to know if im ok or should i do anything...

I know its fine to be around Cancer patients when pregnant but just heard not when they are having treatment and fear for my baby now... thanks

My mom just passed away of cancer last friday the 15th. She had chemo sessions and I went to see her, Im 37 weeks pregnant and all is fine with me. My baby is 6 lbs. Has all 10 fingers and toes, and everything is good to go for labour. My mid wive knew of this (me seeing my mom) and never told me side effects from visiting my mom after her treatments.
So no need to worry.

THAT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I HAVE EVER HEARD! I worked for an Oncologist that was pregnant. Their chemo can't get to you or effect you or your baby. If they are sick from the chemo- then it is not a sickness you can contract...and they probably don't want your whiny ass around them while they are sick anyway. It is people with this kind of opinions that make me fear how good your parenting skills are to begin with. It is immature to wonder about this kind of stupid crap! Hope you have a good support system to help you with your baby when its born! Poor thing...hope it comes out with more brains than you have!

I've heard that, too. Fortunately, it isn't a risk to your baby. The patient is not radioactive or something after the treatment. You don't want to be hanging around the cancer treatment ward of a hospital for long periods of time obviously - but visiting your friend is fine.

You should talk with your doctor. Or call your hospital and ask this question. I believe it would depend on the type of treatment the patient was recieving. Chemo is different from radiation treatment.

I've never heard of that, what would nurses do when they got pregnant then? but I would ask your doctor a quick phone call should work and they can tell you better than we can
