Cervical Cancer shot vs. this year's flu shot..? are they similar? i got the flu shot and the nurse went 1 2 3 and it was finished and it felt like someone took a lead pencil and lightly stroked my arm. it was not painful AT ALL one bit. fast and easy. i am getting 3 shots this summer and im SPAZZING. shots have always scared me, and im hoping they are all like the flu shot. i've heard the cervical cancer shot hurts like heck. seriously like im so scared. i want to know what its like and if its like the flu shot. is it? can someone tell me what its like?

ok i was always scared of shots and im 20 and just last week had my last gardasil vaccination and IT hurts, maybe because im a baby but i mean it hurts because it stings for like 1 minute after it goes in, and the arm becomes sore for up to 3 days after. even if you a re s cared still take it i did and i always scream and did scream last week too..and im 20, i was still crying when i was 17 lol... but JUST BE BRAVE! good luck and Take the shot because its good for protecting you against 4 types of viruses!

I am a fainter and a sook, and I coped fine with the shots. The shots themselves are not painful in the least. If you have a history of reactions to inoculations, expect a little discomfort, but nothing major. I had flu type symptoms for a few days after the second one, and a lump, but that is so much better that have HPV or cervical cancer!

i don't know about the flu shot because i've never had one, but gardasil (cervical cancer shot) isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. they can put it in your hip or shoulder (i recommend hip). the needle isn't too bad, just a prick, the medicine going in doesn't hurt, it just feels weird, and you're a little sore afterward. that's pretty much it. i'm horribly afraid of needles too, and i didn't think it was that bad. ADDED: if you're really that scared, try taking some tylenol before you go. i didn't the first time, but i did the second time and i wasn't as sore afterwards. honestly it isn't bad. it's worse than some vaccinations, but not by much, you'll be fine.

Well the flu shot can go into the fat tissue of your arm. The cervical cancer shot has to go in the muscle and that's why it hurts more. However if you tell the nurse that you've got a needle phobe, they can try to make it as quick and painless as possible. Sometimes it's possible to combine the shots together into less shots.
