cervical cancer ?

i got a phone call today from my nurse telling me that my pap smear had come back with A typical or abnormal cells on my cervix and that i have to go back in 6months to get re tested/

she told me not to panic but im scared what if i turns into cancer.

is it possible for the abnormal cells to turn into cancer within the next 6months until my next smear?

Most women some time in their lives have an abnormal pap smear. It is nothing to worry about. If you get your regular paps, then usually it will be caught in time should it happen, but don't worry. If your doctor's were worried, they would do another pap closer than 6 months away. I'm sure in 6 months, you will be fine.

I had the same thing at one time and from what I understood abt. it is it goes in three catigories(spelling?) it can be mild moderate or severe. Mine was moderate.They did a colposcopy(tissue sample of cervics) then tested me every three months then every 6 months.It eventually cleared up on its own.If it had went up to severe then it would have been trouble.Also if you didn't know it this is caused by the Human Papaloma Virus, and is an STD. It can go compleatly away though. You should look this up on the internet for yourself. It might make you feel better
