Today my dog died of cancer, she died in her sleep. I'm really devastated.?

I feel guilt for not putting her to sleep before her death. But she was eating and drinking water, she urinated and defecated normally and could move by herself, but she was weak and I couldn't bear putting her down when she was holding still to her life. But i still feel this guilt and I don't know if it's normal...?
Thank u to everyone who has replied, I didnt expect so many answers in so lil time. THX A LOT for this support even though you dont know me. Thanks.

First of all I'm very sorry about your dog. But it is normal to feel guilt. You loved her she was part of your family for years. You gave her the life she wanted she had a good time with her life. Honestly you did the right thing you gave her the love and attention she wanted while you could. For advice you don't have to but you can if you want to, If she had a favorite spot outside you could bury her there for memory's.

Aww, don't worry. When she was functioning normally, she wasn't in as much pain as you thought. And when she went in her sleep, it took her peacefully, and its probably the same as putting her down. She felt no pain.

I know a loss is hard, but she had to go eventually, good luck to you with moving on. I know its rough.

I am so sorry for your loss. Don't be guilty. She passed at home. You don't have to say "Goodbye", just "See you later"

It was your choice don't feel bad If you could have asked your dog I guarantee it wouldn't have wanted to be put down.
