| risk of lung and oral cancer by age? recently i have become a bit of a hypochondriac towards cancer, ideally oral and lung. admittedly i do smoke and used to smoke roughly 10 a day, but my switch from cigs to rollies have cut the number in halve. im 19 know and have seen the diagnosis ratio of lung cancer from 2005 and it almost seems that it is impossible to get lung cancer before teh age of 30, i know it IS possible, but im less worried about that. so im more looking at the risks of oral cancer and the likeliness at my age. i am going to see my GP 2morrow to get a little reassurance because at the moment i have a cold/sore throat and looking with a light and mirrow i can see the back of my throat has swollen up along with red rash marks. so before i go, can someone please just tell me the odds of getting either cancer at my age of 19 while smoking 5-10 a day? thanks. |

| Anybody can get lung cancer even people who never smoked however people who smoke are more likely to get lung cancer than people who don't smoke. i wouldn't worry about lung cancer at 19 and you only been smoking not long and not many cigs a day. my dad died from lung cancer recently but he smoked for 35 years about 20 cigs a day and i know what symptoms he had before he was diagnosed so unless you are having pressistent cough chest pain shoulder pain coughing pleghm than you don't have lung cancer but if you want to make yourself feel better than go and see the doctor and ask him about lung cancer. Quit smoking if you want to reduce chances of getting lung cancer and other illnesses. |
