What national companies/businesses give charitable donations?

I am fundraising for a cancer-related organization and I am looking to get corporate sponsorships. Does anyone have a list of businesses that are known for their giving?

Check with Goldman Sachs. Every spring they do a company wide volunteer initiative called Community Team Works.

Your may also write in asking them for any available fund. Make rapport with their PR first!

Yes, thousands! You need to connect with The Foundation Center and one of their over 340 nonprofit libraries they operate around the country...some are within public libraries, some are free-standing, depending on which city you are in. The Foundation Center is the expert research organization on fundraising from corporations and foundations. They have done all the research and developed a free database of funders and what areas they give to, along with other indexes. There is a fee to use their database online, however, it is available free to use in their libraries all over the country, and there are lots of other free items to help you on their website. To find a library near you, visit their website www.foundationcenter.org and go to Locations. If you are not in a city where their 5 central libraries are, click on Cooperating Collections and you can find libraries in every state. While you are at their website, visit their FAQs. You will find information on raising money from corporations with great links. Under Find Funders on the home page, you can also go to the stats section and see a list of the top corporate funders! There are also free online proposal writing classes to take and an rfp (request for proposals) section broken out by category of funders asking for proposals There is so much information on here, I say you can get a phd in fundraising from their site.A perspective that may be helpful.......85% of all charitable funding comes from individuals, not foundations and corporations...combined, they account for the remaining 15% or so. That means your primary "base" of funding should already be coming from individuals who contribute to your organization to show prospective corporate sponsors you have that kind of public support. Good luck. Hope this helps! Teresa
