~Bottles, Cancer??~?

I heard on the news that some bottles give us cancer. What number on the bottom of the bottle does it have to have that indicates that it is a bad bottle???

The Nalgene bottles have a 7, which means "none of the above," as in "not 1 through 6". A disposable #7 bottle is not necessarily considered dangerous. But Nalgene bottles are not disposable, as they are too durable to be disposable. You have to buy the Nalgene bottle specifically. The cancer fears are not that the bottles are directly carcinogenic, but that they contain a chemical (Bisphenol A) that is a potential endocrine disrupter. If you mess with female hormones, it could encourage cancers, not to mention people not wanting young children getting dosed with hormone analogs. When Canada's Health Service announced that Bisphenol A was toxic to human health, the Nalgene company announced that no more Bisphenol A would be used in their plastic bottles.
