What can I expect at a tanning salon?

So here's the deal: as a kid, I was constantly outdoors and constantly tan. I mean *really* tan. I haven't been tan in years and I have gotten really pale, and playing outdoors all day isn't really an option anymore. I was wondering what to expect at a tanning salon. How long will it take to get tan again? How many minutes to start off? Should I use some kind of lotion? I'm really clueless.P.S. Please spare me the skin cancer spiel. Both my parents are tan and they look younger than they really are.

It is really stupid of you to tan especially with the change of getting skin cancer. Even if you don't get cancer, you will look like a dried up old prune as you age. White women should be white, otherwise they just look trashy.

Since you are just starting off you should only go three days a week like Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so you have days off in between your sessions. You should only go 3-4 mins a session if you do not burn at the end of the week you can increase your time by 2-3 minutes until you reach the 20 minute max. Also make sure to keep your skin moist. Moist skin tans faster that dry.Happy Tanning;-)

If going to a tanning salon is what you wanna do, go for it! Depending on your natural skin tone, and the type of bulbs the salon uses, start at a low amount of time. Most people who work in the salon will be able to help you figure out how long would be best for your first time. DEFINITELY use tanning lotion. You can find different ones all over the place now... And most salons will have samples of different types to try to determine which one works best for you. They can be costly so it's best to buy the samples initially so you don't waste too much money on something you don't like.

well im 14 and i tan at a tanning salon. they will tell you to buy a monthly pack to tan or you can just try it for a couple bucks the first time and see if you like it. wel if your really pale like i was then i would take like 3 to 4 weeks. but you have to burn to tan first. thats how it was with me. it only burnt for one day and then it faded into a tan.make shure you use mosturizer. and yes every time you go tanning in the bed you have to put some kind of bronzing lotion on to help your tan.i started out with 8 minutes. then each week i moved up like 5 or 6. but now im just doing 20. but thats a personal choice. and yeahh you can get skin cancer. same here my mom still looks young and shes been tanning FORVEER. lol

i work at atanning salon and my best advice to you is to go for it no it wont cook your insides it only goes to the top few layers of your skin so dont worry about that. when you go to the salon they will prob. get you to fill out a slip to find out your skin level then you go how ever long your skin level says to go your first time is usually about 5 min depending gor your lotion use a good lotion i find jaded by austraillain gold is good if you would like more information email me at paigeb143@gmail.com or yahoo messenger
