| Is the Quran right to claim that any misfortune that happens to you is your... ...fault? Does that include cancer? Quran 42:30 YUSUFALI: Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/042.qmt.html Wow. So a baby that get brain cancer brought it about with his own hands/actions? SHARMIND: Lets suppose your right, and this verse doesnt mean what it says, but means something other than what it says...that being what you say it means, as opposed to what it actually says...lets assume this...we still have the same problem! So, we change the verse and make it says something like "whatever misfortune happens TO A PEOPLE this is because of the things they have done". Now...according to your newly created verse, the Muslims of Indonesia who were killed by the Tsunami...woman and children...they all brought it upon themselves by their own actions. Nice! |

| I think there is a deeper though behind things like this...at least I hope. Like say someone was so spiritually ill and they were to die but was able to avoid typical death and between a person's spirit in error and confidence in other facets the person was struck with this gross illness and when another person studied it and saw and believed it was real the first time discovered than it had entered our world. Mind you I am just telling you a very mystical point of view. I am not saying this is how things came forth I am just saying they were not always here. I am not versed in Islamic studies and am speaking from a Judiac mysticism point of view. No offense should be taken that illness is not even called by name by most Jews due to it's strong hold on people. Furthermore it says when a prophet ponders ills he seeks the reason to cause the illness versus a cure. Find the reason and eliminate it and you will have the cure type of thought. This is what I base it off of if your curious. The greater thought in personal application is watch ourselves that we don't go in error to avoid ills to come forth on us and society in a whole. I suppose if one person could eliminate it and doubt it he could do it for the whole world. .. I donnu it's a difficult topic. |
