What are some indications that cancer has spread elsewhere to an organ of your body?

I have a family member who had breast cancer. The chemo was very effective, and to be thorough her lymph nodes were removed. (Cancer had not spread to the lymph nodes). This was several years ago. Since then, she's gotten in her bones and is undergoing treatment for that. Lately she's been having terrible head aches and is worried it has spread to her brain. Where can I find reliable information about this? (Other, than than her medical team.) I'm aware that her medical team is very important and the best source of information, and they are indeed excellent. Still, it is nice to have another source of information. Thanks.
