Getting back to a cancer guy?

First of all I don't need anyone to tell me I'm dumb because I asked something about astrology.

So.. here's my ex boyfriend who is a cancer. Now we started talking again but he's really shy.. he doesn't even look at me if I ask him somethin. When his friends are around he comes with them and sits next to me and my friends. He smiles at me a lot but sometimes he has moments when he's really mean to me. Like.. lets say now he's very flirty and after a second he becomes very mean.

I was wondering if he still likes me. I don't even know how to act to make him trust me again.
