Yes. Nickel can cause cancer, as well as chrome dust. This is the primary reason why the USA does not mine it anymore - All it's nickel is imported as solid now. Mostly it causes lung cancer - due to small particulates. I worked in a factory that produced hydraulic rams - chrome over nickel on steel. One process involved grinding excess material off - and respirator monitoring equipment was used to keep an eye on permitted levels (who sets the levels I don't know) |
