Anyone who has lost someone to cancer?

a relative is suffering from terminal lung cancer and now has yellow skin- am I right in thinking that the time's coming? If you know someone who had cancer did this happen near the end? (it did with my grandad, i remember from being a child). I know only doctors can give accurate answers but I was just wondering from people who have suffered a loss to cancer if they noticed this in general or particularly at the end.
