Can trauma or surgery trigger cancer?

I had surgery in October and It seemed as if I never bounced back from it. I started having all these unrelated symptoms for a couple of months and then went to the doctors and now they think I may have Lymphoma...I go in for a lymph node dissection tomorrow, but I was wondering if having surgery can bring on cancer. I don't mean cause it, but maybe trigger something so it starts growing? Anybody know?
